2008 End-of-Session Briefing

CMC's annual wrap-up of the Missouri Legislative Session will take place on June 3, 2008 from 5-7pm at Ces & Judy's Catering in Frontenac. A panel of key Missouri legislators will discuss the impact of the 2008 session on children and families. Refreshments will be served. The attendance fee is $35 per person (member organizations are entitled to discounted tickets, $25 per person).

CMC's 2008 Forums on Children's Issues

Citizens for Missouri’s Children is bringing our 2008 Forum on Children’s Issues to Lafayette, Jackson, and Cass Counties. These free events will feature a presentation on the most recent county-specific KIDS COUNT findings, an update on how children fared during the 2008 legislative session, and a panel discussion with providers, legislators, and advocates.

  • Lafayette County Forum: Wednesday, May 28, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Higginsville Community Center, 101 West 21st Street in Higginsville.

  • Jackson County Forum: Wednesday, June 11, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Campus Center of the Penn Valley Campus of Metropolitan Community College, 3201 SW Trafficway in Kansas City.

  • Cass County Forum: Thursday, June 12, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Cass County Medical

    Center Community Room, 1800 East Mechanic in Harrisonville.

Child Advocacy Day 2008

Hundreds of child advocates venturd to Jefferson City January 29th, 2008 to meet with legislators, attend workshops and rally for children and families. CMC had an exhibit booth at the event, as usual. Former CMC Executive Director Beth Griffin was named Child Advocate of the Year for her long service with CMC on behalf of children.

2007 Speak Out for Kids Luncheon

CMC's annual Speak Out for Kids Luncheon was held on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis. Geoffrey Canada, president and CEO of the Harlem Children's Zone Project was the featured speaker.

2nd Annual Member Assembly - 2007

CMC's second annual Member Assembly took place at the Boone Electric Cooperative in Columbia on September 26, 2007 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Click here for more information.

CMC's annual wrap-up of the Missouri Legislative Session took place on June 5, 2007 at Ces & Judy's Catering in Frontenac. State Senator Maida Coleman and State Representative Margaret Donnelly shared their insights on the recently concluded session and how children fared. Almost 100 child advocates from across the state gathered to hear this important update.

 

Child Advocacy Day - 2007

Hundreds of child advocates braved cold and blustering weather conditions in Jefferson City on January 30th, 2007 to show their support for better public policies to support children. They, participated in workshops, visited exhibit booths to learn about new services and programs, discussed critical children's issues with legislators, and networked with other advocates.
